15-year-old girl charged with murder after shooting ex-boyfriend

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA – A 15-year-old girl is facing murder charges after allegedly shooting her 17-year-old ex-boyfriend in the head on Monday afternoon, authorities said. The incident took place in the Jenkintown section of Abington Township, Montgomery County.

Police identified the suspect as Precious Hamilton, who reportedly claimed the shooting was accidental. She allegedly panicked and fled the scene without seeking help, leaving the victim, Bassem Baker, unresponsive.

The tragic event unfolded around 5 p.m. when officers responded to a call and discovered Baker dead on the bedroom floor. According to the criminal complaint, Baker’s mother found him after returning from errands.

Investigators reported that Hamilton had been at Baker’s home throughout the weekend. Surveillance footage showed her leaving the residence alone shortly before 3:30 p.m. on the day of the shooting. Authorities noted that Hamilton picked up a firearm, which discharged unexpectedly.

Detectives also uncovered a photo of Hamilton holding a gun on Baker’s iPad from a previous day. Although the firearm has not been recovered, Hamilton allegedly admitted to stealing it from an acquaintance two months ago.

The community expressed shock over the incident, emphasizing the need for closer parental supervision. “Kids shouldn’t be near weapons,” one resident remarked.

Hamilton is being charged as an adult, facing charges including third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter. The investigation is ongoing.
