Colombian crime network dismantled

KISSIMMEE, FL – A Colombian criminal network has been dismantled in central Florida, marking the end of a series of burglaries that spanned across the United States. Authorities in Osceola County have apprehended five suspects believed to be part of this notorious group, which allegedly targeted homeowners while they were away at work, leaving behind a trail of destruction.

The suspects, identified as Jimmy CuĂ©llar, Angie Baquero, Giovanni Bernal, Miguel Guerrero, and Camilo Gomez, are accused of conducting numerous break-ins before settling in the Sunshine State. Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that two of these individuals are in the U.S. without proper documentation.

In a significant breakthrough, surveillance footage from late February revealed three vehicles behaving suspiciously in south Orange County, prompting deputies to take action. Law enforcement officers were on hand as three suspects broke into an apartment near Universal Boulevard and Sand Lake Road. The swift response led to their immediate arrest.

Shortly afterward, authorities managed to capture the remaining two suspects, rounding up the entire group. All five now face multiple charges, including criminal mischief, grand theft of the third degree, and burglary of a dwelling.

In addition to these charges, two suspects are also under ICE detainers, awaiting potential deportation. The success of the operation is attributed to the coordinated efforts of the sheriff’s office, which utilized both canine and helicopter units to efficiently track and apprehend the suspects.

The dismantling of this criminal ring highlights the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces in combating organized crime, particularly as it crosses state lines. The arrests serve as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and community cooperation in ensuring public safety.

This case underscores the critical role of technology and coordination in modern policing, as evidenced by the effective use of surveillance and rapid response tactics that led to the capture of the suspects.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the full extent of the group’s activities, as they work to bring closure to the victims affected by these crimes.
