Two elderly women were found dead in an assisted living facility in Los Angeles County on Saturday morning. The live-in caretaker, Jianchun Li, has been taken into custody for the murders.
The incident occurred at around 8 a.m. at a home located at the intersection of Sapphire Canyon Road and Highland Valley Road. The victims were live-in patients at the facility and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of death has not been released, but foul play is suspected. The sheriff’s department has confirmed that the victims were not shot, and a coroner will determine the cause of death.
The incident is currently being investigated by homicide detectives, and the scene remains active. Neighbors say that there are usually eight elderly people who live at the facility.
Witnesses did not hear any gunfire, but were startled by the heavy police presence.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has stated that there are no community safety concerns at this time.
