The Marion County allegations follow a separate Delaware County prosecution involving another teenage patient transported by the same emergency medical worker.
INDIANAPOLIS, IN — A former central Indiana emergency medical technician already charged in a case involving a 14-year-old patient now faces additional felony charges alleging he sexually battered a 16-year-old girl during a separate ambulance trip.
Ronald D. Elliott Jr., 37, of Dunreith, was charged Monday in Marion County with child seduction, sexual battery and dissemination of matter harmful to minors, according to court records cited by local news organizations. The allegations involve a patient transported by Quest Ambulance Service from Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis to Valle Vista Hospital in Greenwood. The charges have not been proven in court.
The new case became public less than two months after Elliott was arrested in Delaware County on allegations involving another teenage patient. Prosecutors there charged him with sexual misconduct with a minor, child seduction, vicarious sexual gratification, child solicitation and inappropriate communication with a child. That case also remains pending.
According to allegations described in reports about the Marion County court filing, the 16-year-old told investigators that Elliott made personal and sexual comments during the ambulance ride. He allegedly asked whether she was interested in firefighters, gave her his name and telephone number and encouraged her to contact him.
Investigators allege Elliott also displayed sexually explicit material on his cellphone and made other inappropriate remarks while responsible for the teenager’s medical transport. The girl reported that Elliott later touched her inappropriately inside the ambulance. Investigators said they found no medical reason for the alleged contact.
The teenager also told investigators that Elliott offered her access to vaping products, according to accounts of the court documents. Authorities began examining her allegations after Indiana State Police learned of the separate Delaware County investigation. Investigators reviewed information from Elliott’s phone and social media records as part of the Marion County case.
The earlier case arose from a February ambulance trip involving a 14-year-old girl who was being taken from Muncie to another Indiana community. The girl told police that Elliott showed her explicit images and videos before sexually assaulting her in the ambulance, according to court documents described by news outlets. Elliott denied having sexual contact with the girl but acknowledged allowing her to use his cellphone and nicotine vape, the reports said.
Authorities alleged that Elliott later used a social media account that remained logged in on his phone to contact a 13-year-old friend of the first teenager. That alleged communication contributed to the Delaware County charges. Elliott was arrested in May after officers stopped his vehicle and took him into custody without incident.
The two prosecutions involve different teenage patients and ambulance trips in separate counties. Both concern conduct Elliott allegedly committed while working as an EMT for Quest Ambulance Service. A law firm representing the family of the first known accuser said the newer allegations predated the conduct reported in the Delaware County case.
A warrant was issued in connection with the Marion County charges, and reports said Elliott had not been booked into the Marion County Jail as of Tuesday afternoon. His Delaware County case remains before the court. No trial has been held in either matter, and Elliott is presumed innocent unless convicted.
