DALLAS, TX – A workplace dispute at a Dallas FedEx facility escalated into a violent confrontation Monday morning, involving a hammer and gunfire between two coworkers. The incident unfolded in the parking lot as employees arrived for their shifts.
Police reports indicate that the altercation began when Ian Hollingsworth, 34, allegedly attacked a fellow worker’s vehicle with a hammer, shattering its driver’s side window. The clash intensified when Hollingsworth reportedly struck his coworker multiple times with the hammer.
The victim, attempting to defend himself, reached for a revolver from his vehicle’s console. As he tried to exit the car, Hollingsworth allegedly struck the victim’s hand, causing the gun to fall. Seizing the opportunity, Hollingsworth grabbed the firearm and allegedly shot the victim three times, twice in the shoulder and once in the chest.
Authorities were able to quickly identify Hollingsworth as the suspect through witness testimonies, cell phone recordings, and surveillance footage from the facility. He was taken into custody later that day at his Grand Prairie apartment, without incident.
Following his arrest, Hollingsworth was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Despite the severity of the charges, he has since been released on bond. Prior to his police interview, he requested legal representation.
Daphne Macias, a FedEx employee, mentioned that tensions between the two men had been escalating for some time, citing several verbal altercations that she reported to management. “It’s unfortunate it led to this,” Macias said, expressing regret over the incident’s preventability.
The victim, currently hospitalized, provided his account to investigators. Efforts to contact him and his family for further comments have been unsuccessful.
The violent episode has left the workplace reeling, with concerns over safety and the impact on those involved. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities piece together the full narrative of events.
