DEARBORN, MI — Authorities have successfully thwarted a potential terror attack in Michigan, leading to several arrests near Detroit, according to the FBI. Director Kash Patel confirmed the operation via a social media post, revealing that the suspects were allegedly planning a violent attack over Halloween weekend.
Local police in Dearborn, where the operation took place, assured residents that there is no ongoing threat to the community. Their statement on social media reiterated the absence of danger, emphasizing that the situation is under control.
The FBI’s activity centered on a residence on Hauger Street, directly across from Fordson High School. Agents have been conducting searches throughout the day, including examining vehicles in the driveway. Five individuals, aged 16 to 20, were arrested at three different locations — two in Dearborn and one in Inkster.
Sources indicate that the group was inspired by ISIS, with plans to target Halloween festivities. The suspects were reportedly in possession of automatic weapons and had visited gun ranges. They had also been surveilling Cedar Point in Ohio as a potential target.
The Dearborn and Inkster police departments confirmed their involvement in the FBI raids. The local school district was informed about the situation in advance, ensuring safety for students and staff.
Director Patel praised law enforcement for their vigilance, stating that the FBI and other agencies remain committed to protecting the homeland. The suspects are expected to be arraigned later today, although the FBI maintains that there is no current threat to the public.
The investigation began after the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force discovered discussions in an ISIS-affiliated online chat room. This led to the coordinated operation involving multiple agencies, including SWAT teams from several cities.
