Good samaritan stops knife yielding crazy attacking people

MISSION BEACH, CA – A chaotic scene unfolded at a local steakhouse in Mission Beach when a man wielding a knife attacked a bartender. The incident, which took place on a busy Thursday afternoon, left patrons and staff in shock, but quick-thinking individuals acted swiftly to prevent further harm.

Witnesses described the attacker as erratic, possibly under the influence of drugs. Edwin, a nearby business owner, observed the man behaving aggressively and immediately called 911. He tracked the suspect as he moved toward the restaurant, Moe’s, and bravely followed him inside, armed with a rock for self-defense.

Inside the restaurant, the bartender, identified as Matt, had already been stabbed multiple times. Despite his injuries, Matt’s actions were pivotal. Edwin, upon entering, used the rock to strike the assailant, while other staff members joined in using barstools to subdue the attacker until police arrived.

Matt sustained serious injuries, with investigators noting he had been stabbed at least seven times. Fortunately, his wounds were not life-threatening. Edwin praised Matt’s courage, emphasizing that he confronted the attacker to protect others in the restaurant.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by Matt’s friends to assist with his medical expenses as he recovers in a local hospital. Edwin expressed gratitude for the collective bravery that potentially saved lives that day, urging others to act similarly in critical situations.

Authorities have identified the suspect as 42-year-old Hector Vasquez, who now faces multiple charges related to the attack. The incident has left the community shaken but united in their support for Matt and the quick responders.
