Husband charged with murder of wife missing since 2017

WEST CHESTER, PA – An arrest has been made in connection to the mysterious disappearance of a Chester County woman, missing since 2017. Authorities have charged her husband, Alan Gould, with first and third-degree murder in the case of Anna Mikeska Gould, who vanished eight years ago under suspicious circumstances.

Investigators revealed that despite not having found Anna’s body, they proceeded with the charges based on substantial evidence collected over the years. The Chester County District Attorney highlighted that this decision was not the result of a recent breakthrough but rather the culmination of persistent investigative efforts. Newly released court documents shed light on some of the evidence, including Anna’s plans to travel to Poland with her son—a trip that never took place.

Anna was reportedly last seen by her husband as she left their Malvern home for work. However, discrepancies in his account and the evidence led to a deeper investigation. On April 12, 2017, Alan Gould reported his wife missing, claiming she left for work on April 10. Yet, police findings suggest her routine life activities halted abruptly on March 29, 2017, with the last confirmed sighting or communication from Anna occurring on March 28.

Key evidence includes the discovery of Anna’s Audi sedan near their home, which data indicated had not been driven on the day her husband claimed she vanished. Furthermore, messages sent from Anna’s phone were inconsistent with her usual communication style, including a birthday message to her father in broken Polish, despite her fluency in the language. Investigators also discovered divorce papers and gathered testimonies describing a strained marriage, contrary to Gould’s portrayal of their relationship.

The prosecution aims to demonstrate that the couple’s relationship was deteriorating, a fact Alan Gould was well aware of. The case against him is built on proving these points beyond a reasonable doubt, as emphasized by the District Attorney.

Friends and colleagues of Anna, who have tirelessly campaigned for justice, expressed their relief at the development. They have maintained hope throughout the years, creating a Facebook page dedicated to finding Anna and attending press conferences to keep her story alive. Despite the charges, they remain hopeful that Anna’s body will be discovered, bringing closure to a painful chapter.
