Man accused of killing his stepfather and shooting his brother

PHOENIX, AZ – A tragic incident unfolded at 16th Street and Bell Road, where police have been investigating since last night. This morning, the medical examiner removed a body from the scene as authorities continue their work following a violent family dispute.

The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Milad Rafi, is accused of shooting his teenage brother and 59-year-old stepfather after an argument. The Phoenix Police Department responded to the scene around 8 p.m. last night, discovering the teenage victim had been shot and was in need of medical attention.

Emergency personnel transported the teenager to a local hospital, where he remains with non-life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, Rafi’s stepfather, Najibullah Rafie, was found in the street and, despite efforts to revive him, succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities reported that Milad Rafi initially fled the scene but returned approximately 20 minutes later, at which time he was taken into custody. The investigation into the circumstances leading up to the shootings is ongoing.

Residents in the area expressed shock at the violence, noting the normally quiet neighborhood was disrupted by the incident. Police are seeking any additional information from witnesses to piece together the events of the evening.

Phoenix police have not released further information regarding potential charges against Rafi. As the investigation continues, authorities urge anyone with information to come forward to assist in the case.
