Man arrested 32 times captured after firing shots at random cyclist

ATLANTA, GA – A convicted felon is back in custody after a dramatic daytime shooting incident in downtown Atlanta. Surveillance video captured the harrowing scene as the gunman opened fire on a cyclist near the bustling Magic City area.

The footage shows the cyclist narrowly escaping the bullets, abandoning his bike, and fleeing on foot. Nearby, a family with a young child scrambled for safety as shots rang out, highlighting the chaos in the high-traffic area.

Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with people diving for cover. “It’s wild,” one bystander said, recalling the pandemonium that unfolded just down the street from Magic Car Wash, where employees and patrons sought shelter.

Police identified the shooter as Alexander Wood, a convicted felon with 32 prior arrests. Following the shooting, Wood led officers on a reckless chase down I-20, endangering other drivers as he attempted to evade capture.

The pursuit ended when Wood abandoned his vehicle on Lee Street and fled to a nearby apartment, where authorities apprehended him without incident. Police credit their success to advanced technology and coordinated efforts among multiple units.

Wood is currently being held at Fulton County Jail on numerous charges. Authorities recovered a firearm, shell casings, and crack cocaine from the abandoned SUV.

As the investigation continues, Atlanta residents remain on edge, urging for increased safety measures in the area.
