Man intentionally hit by car and dragged nearly two miles

MOBILE, AL – A shocking incident unfolded in Mobile, resulting in an arrest for a gruesome crime. Jacob Cross is now facing a murder charge after authorities allege he intentionally struck a man with his car and fled the scene.

According to police, the victim, Sam Walker, was trapped beneath the vehicle and dragged for over two miles before being discovered. The tragic event began at a gas station on Schillinger Road, where Cross and a woman were reportedly arguing.

Walker intervened in the dispute, which led to an altercation between him and Cross. Witnesses described a violent confrontation, with punches thrown and wrestling between the two men. A clerk at the gas station called the police during the scuffle.

Mobile police stated that the altercation ended with Walker being hit by Cross’s vehicle in the parking lot. Walker remained trapped under the car as Cross drove to his residence on Dawes Lane East, approximately two miles away.

Investigators quickly determined the sequence of events, confirming that Walker was deceased upon arrival. The route from the gas station to Cross’s home was a short drive, involving traffic lights and a roundabout.

Walker was found dead near the vehicle, and Cross was subsequently charged with his murder. Authorities noted that Cross had no prior criminal history in Mobile.
