Man kills his friend, texts handyman to clean up the scene

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY – A 43-year-old man from Long Island, Jeremy Allen, is in custody following the violent killing of his companion, Christopher Hahn, also 43. The gruesome incident took place in a Hamptons residence and was reportedly triggered by a heavy drinking session.

The end of the deadly ordeal saw Hahn’s body, bearing signs of severe beating and a stab wound to the head, concealed under a tarp on Allen’s back patio, according to police reports and local news stories.

According to prosecutors at Allen’s arraignment, the altercation between Allen and Hahn was ignited during a discussion about their forthcoming 12-step program. This aggression escalated, leading to Allen assaulting Hahn and eventually stabbing him in the head, fatally injuring him. The violent attack was captured on video footage, as described by Suffolk County prosecutor Elena Tomaro.

Allen’s history includes multiple charges of drunk driving since 2007, according to Newsday. During the incident, Allen and Hahn were drinking heavily when an “altercation that grew more violent” spurred, Allen’s legal representative stated in court.

Prosecutors noted that Allen assaulted Hahn continually for approximately six hours before stabbing his friend in the neck and head using a large knife. Allen then reached out to a local handyman and asked him to help clean up the crime scene. When the handyman discovered Hahn’s body, he told Allen he needed to purchase bleach. Instead, he notified Southampton Town Police, who arrived at the scene before 10 a.m.

Hahn was declared dead at the scene, and Allen was taken into custody within an hour of the discovery. Arraigned on Sunday, Allen was denied bail. Outstanding legal issues include a pending rape case in Southampton and ongoing probation for a 2022 conviction for drunk driving in Ulster County.
