DALLAS, TX – A father and his infant son have been reunited after a harrowing ordeal that left the father fighting for his life. Angel Perez Luna, a devoted dad, was separated from his eight-month-old son, Gabriel, following a shocking incident on Black Friday that took place at a Dallas shopping center.
Perez Luna’s partner, Nicole Hernandez, recounted the terrifying events that unfolded while they were video chatting. Angel was at a Target in City Place Market, waiting to use the restroom, when their conversation abruptly ended. Moments later, a call from Dallas police shattered the silence, informing Nicole that Angel had been brutally attacked.
According to an arrest warrant, a witness inside the restroom heard a man declare his intention to commit a crime. Just minutes later, Angel was stabbed in the neck with what was believed to be a pair of scissors while he was washing his hands. Despite the sudden and vicious assault, Angel managed to escape the restroom, seeking help and calling out for his son.
The severity of Angel’s injuries required immediate medical intervention. He underwent two critical surgeries to repair damage to a vein and a major artery, which were essential for his survival. Nicole expressed her gratitude, calling Angel’s recovery nothing short of miraculous, as he is now able to walk and talk again.
Authorities soon arrested 43-year-old Robert Weldon near El Centro College, charging him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Weldon denied the allegations, making a chilling statement that if he had indeed stabbed Angel, the victim would not have survived. Despite this claim, the evidence led to his arrest.
Angel’s resilience and determination to reunite with his son have provided a glimmer of hope amid the family’s turmoil. After three agonizing weeks apart, Angel finally embraced his son once more, a moment filled with relief and gratitude.
Nicole, who was in Mexico at the time of the attack, described the emotional rollercoaster she experienced, from the initial shock to the overwhelming relief of having Angel back with their family. She credits divine intervention for his survival and remains thankful for the support they received during this trying time.
The Dallas community has rallied around the family, offering support and prayers for Angel’s continued recovery. As the legal proceedings unfold, the family remains focused on healing and cherishing the time they have together.
