Man with long criminal record kills 25-year-old woman in chase crash

DALLAS, TX – A tragic high-speed chase that began in Grand Prairie ended with the death of a 25-year-old woman early Saturday morning. The chase involved a 26-year-old man, identified by police as a gang member, who now faces multiple charges, including murder and evading arrest. Authorities revealed that he was out on bond in connection with a violent home invasion where children were threatened at gunpoint.

The pursuit commenced on Main Street in Grand Prairie following a traffic stop. Officers attempted to pull over a red Camaro after noticing its abrupt braking and expired registration. Instead of complying, the driver fled towards Interstate 30, reaching speeds of up to 120 mph, putting numerous lives at risk.

The chase continued into Dallas, where the Camaro exited onto Southampton Road and collided with a Honda Accord that had broken down near the service road. The impact was fatal for the Honda’s driver, identified as Asiana Gray, who was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

After the crash, the driver of the Camaro, identified as Arevalo, and a passenger attempted to flee on foot. An officer attempted to subdue Arevalo with a Taser, but it was ineffective. A physical struggle ensued until backup arrived to secure Arevalo.

During the arrest, Arevalo claimed that others in the vehicle had threatened him with a gun, forcing him to flee from the police. Subsequently, as he was being transported to the hospital, Arevalo reportedly informed first responders that he had ingested Percocet and fentanyl.

The investigation revealed Arevalo’s extensive criminal history in Dallas County, spanning nearly a decade. His record includes numerous violent offenses and bond violations. In January, he was charged with multiple felonies for a home invasion in Irving, where he allegedly held several people, including children, at gunpoint.

Currently, Arevalo is facing charges related to murder, evading arrest, and a collision resulting in death for his actions during the chase. Authorities are awaiting toxicology results, which could lead to additional charges of driving while intoxicated.

Meanwhile, the search continues for the second suspect, the passenger in the red Camaro, who managed to escape on foot. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to piece together the events that led to this tragic incident.
