A man with several warrants was arrested for holding a woman captive

BRIDGEPORT, CT – A man with a lengthy criminal history and multiple outstanding warrants has been apprehended in Connecticut, facing numerous charges, including the alleged kidnapping of a woman. Nicholas Allwood, 27, was taken into custody on Wednesday in Bridgeport, where authorities believe he was holding the woman captive.

This is not Allwood’s first encounter with the law. He is a suspect in two separate stabbing incidents in Bridgeport and has outstanding warrants for attempted murder. Additionally, he is wanted by federal immigration authorities. The local police had been actively searching for Allwood, who is accused of stabbing a man both recently and in a previous incident in February.

On Wednesday, the police were alerted to Allwood’s location on Hanover Street after the male victim of the stabbing identified him as “Hothead.” As the victim was transported to the hospital, officers set up surveillance on Gregory Street, where Allwood was believed to be staying. Unbeknownst to them, a woman was being held against her will at the same location.

The situation took a dramatic turn when the woman, seizing the opportunity for freedom, ran out of the house while officers were stationed outside. Allwood followed her out, brandishing a knife, but was swiftly apprehended by detectives who tackled him to the ground. A knife and crack cocaine were found at the scene.

Allwood’s criminal record extends beyond Connecticut. He has prior convictions in Nevada, Philadelphia, and New York. Authorities describe him as extremely volatile and dangerous, living up to his self-proclaimed nickname, “Hothead.” His arrest is seen as a significant relief for the local community, which has been on edge due to his violent behavior.

Currently, Allwood is being held on a $1 million bond in connection with the latest incidents, which include charges of kidnapping and assault. He is also facing a federal gun charge in the Southern District of New York, adding to his extensive list of legal troubles.

The Bridgeport community can breathe a little easier now, knowing that a dangerous individual is off the streets. However, the investigation continues as authorities piece together the full extent of Allwood’s alleged criminal activities.
