FOREST PARK, IL – A horrific shooting incident on a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Blue Line train early Monday morning left four people dead. Forest Park police responded to a 911 call around 5:30 a.m. reporting multiple individuals shot on a train at the Forest Park station.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a devastating scene with four gunshot victims. Three individuals were tragically pronounced dead at the scene, while a fourth was transported to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood but later succumbed to their injuries.
The shooter had fled the scene before the police arrived. However, law enforcement was able to utilize surveillance video to identify a suspect. Chicago police later located an individual matching the suspect’s description on a CTA Pink Line train.
The suspect was taken into police custody, and a firearm was recovered. Authorities are still investigating whether this firearm was the weapon used in the shooting.
As of late Monday morning, the Blue Line service between Forest Park and Austin remained suspended due to the ongoing investigation. Forest Park police have assured the public that this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no immediate threat to the community.
