Mom accidentally shoots and kills her daughter while searching purse for her keys

NASHVILLE, TN – A mother in Tennessee unintentionally fired her weapon as she searched her purse for keys, resulting in the death of her teenage daughter. The mother, identified as De’Ann Radley, is now reaching out to the community for donations to cover her daughter’s funeral expenses.

Radley’s daughter, 13-year-old Dearria Radley, succumbed to a single gunshot wound. She was transported to Vanderbilt’s Pediatric Emergency Room, where she was pronounced dead around 10 p.m. on Saturday, according to Nashville police reports.

Police reports reveal that the firearm, a .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol, was unholstered in Radley’s purse among other items. During her search for keys, the weapon unintentionally discharged and fatally injured the teenager.

A public appeal for funeral expense help has been made by Radley on a GoFundMe page, targeting $15,000 in funds. By Monday afternoon, the donation campaign managed to raise over $300.

Radley has taken to Facebook to express her grief and heartbreak following the devastating incident. Her posts are filled with emotional pleas, urging others to cherish their children while they can. She also shared a deeply emotional video, mourning her daughter’s tragic and sudden death.

At present, no charges have been filed in relation to the incident. The Youth Services Division of the local police department continues its investigation into the shooting.
