Murder suspect mistakenly bailed out of jail

PORTLAND, OR – A mother is gripped by fear after discovering that a man charged with her son’s murder was mistakenly released from jail. The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for the 26-year-old suspect, who was erroneously allowed to post bail.

Jodie Ramsay, the mother of the victim, expressed her anguish, describing the ordeal as a “nightmare” for her family, who now live in constant fear. “My world stopped the day my son died,” she said, reflecting on the emotional turmoil since her 15-year-old son, Logan Ivy, was killed in 2021.

Two suspects were initially arrested in connection with the tragic shooting. Last Wednesday, Ty Sage, one of the suspects, appeared in court for a bail hearing. Although the judge issued an order denying bail, Sage was mistakenly released from the Multnomah County Detention Center on Monday.

“This is a monumental mistake that never should have occurred,” Ramsay stated, expressing her frustration and fear. The Sheriff’s Office acknowledged the error, calling it an isolated incident and promising a thorough investigation.

Sheriff Nicole Morris O’Donnell addressed the community’s concerns, acknowledging the breach of trust. “We hold the ultimate responsibility for a person’s release,” she said. “In this case, we fell short, but we are committed to restoring community trust.”

Ramsay’s fear has been compounded by the uncertainty surrounding Sage’s whereabouts. “It’s going to be a constant fear for me until he’s back in custody,” she said, worried about the potential threat he poses.

The Sheriff’s Office is conducting a full investigation to determine how the mistake occurred while working tirelessly to locate Sage. Meanwhile, Ramsay’s hope for justice is fading. “I had all the hope in the world when he was in custody,” she lamented. “Now, I have 100% doubts.”

Despite the ongoing search, Ramsay’s primary wish is for Sage to be recaptured, bringing her family a step closer to justice and peace.
