PORTER, TX – A small Texas community is grappling with a tragic event as a local mother faces serious charges. Onita Ramalis, 31, has been accused of shooting her four children, resulting in the deaths of two, in what authorities are calling a “senseless tragedy.”
The incident unfolded early Saturday morning when Ramalis called 911 from a Shell gas station in Angleton, requesting law enforcement at her location. When deputies arrived, they discovered four children with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. Tragically, Ramalis’ 13-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter succumbed to their injuries. Her 8-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter were airlifted to a nearby hospital and are reportedly in stable condition.
Investigators are still piecing together the sequence of events, but they believe the shooting occurred inside the car. Ramalis is currently held at Brazoria County Jail with a bond set at $14 million.
Court documents reveal disturbing statements made by Ramalis during questioning, where she allegedly claimed her children were “dead to her” and “with the devil.” Neighbors in the Porter community expressed shock, describing the children as well-behaved and sweet.
One neighbor recounted seeing the 13-year-old boy frequently, noting his care for his younger sister. The community, still in disbelief, is struggling to comprehend the tragedy.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Additionally, it has emerged that Ramalis faces previous charges in Georgia, including driving under the influence of drugs.
The Texas Department of Family Protective Services has been notified and is conducting an investigation into the situation.
