CARMEL, IN – A 34-year-old nurse practitioner, Catherine Curtis, finds herself behind bars following an eight-month investigation into prescription fraud. Authorities in Hamilton County have implemented a 72-hour hold, with formal charges anticipated next week.
Curtis, who operated out of Reclaim Wellness, allegedly wrote counterfeit prescriptions for numerous patients across Indiana. The business has since been shuttered after a police raid earlier this week. The investigation, spearheaded by the Diabetes Drug Task Force and the DEA alongside local police, revealed Curtis not only overprescribed medications but also falsified prescriptions under different identities.
A pharmacy technician, choosing to remain anonymous, noted Curtis’s actions had raised suspicions at several pharmacies over recent months. Despite being flagged by establishments like CVS, Curtis reportedly continued her activities by switching locations and using alternate names.
Court records further indicate Curtis involved her own child in the fraudulent activities by providing unnecessary medications. This case highlights the risks prescription fraud poses to public safety and the integrity of the healthcare system.
