(ConservativeStar.com) – Running for political office is an expensive endeavor in the United States of America these days, and sometimes it seems like the deeper pockets always win. But that’s not always the case when one candidate is a very good person.
The race in New York’s 14th congressional district between Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) — AOC — and challenger John Cummings (R) may be one such case. The incumbent congresswoman has outraised him by $9 million in total, but over the last 90 days, he has outperformed her by approximately $1.5 million.
Cummings, a former cop, is focusing on local issues that are important to the people in the district like funding the police.
When I was a NYPD cop we kept the peace. @AOC wants to defund the police… are you kidding me? Let’s defund AOC. I’m going to win this race! Watch our TV ad and please donate today! https://t.co/xV2woDeFjm pic.twitter.com/wxQx112KVK

AOC, on the other hand, revels in the national spotlight with large donations from the likes of Alphabet, Inc. and, for some strange reason, the State of California. Cummings has the support of the police, while the congresswoman wants to defund them. He wants to bring jobs to his district, she chased away Amazon.
Money is important with one group estimating that the presidential and congressional campaigns will spend almost $11 billion and that absolutely crushes any other cycle. However, smaller races like a single seat in the House of Representatives can still flip based on character and attentiveness to local needs.
