Parolee beats Pastor’s wife into a coma during a home invasion

ORLANDO, FL – The First Baptist Church of Orlando was filled with hopeful hymns and heartfelt prayers on Sunday as members gathered to support Lucy Pet Curl, who is fighting for her life following a brutal home invasion. The congregation united in song and prayer, lifting their voices for the well-being of one of their own.

Lucy Pet Curl, a beloved member of the church community, was attacked in her home on Friday morning. Authorities say the perpetrator, 24-year-old Ronald Davis, forcibly entered her residence under the guise of being a community service officer. Curl was severely beaten, leaving her in critical condition.

The Orlando Police Department revealed new details about the incident on Sunday, following the arrest of Davis. According to police, Davis knocked on Curl’s door and presented a driver’s license when she requested identification. He then forced his way inside and assaulted her, reportedly using a candy jar as a weapon until she lost consciousness.

Neighbors found Curl in her garage, desperately sounding her car horn for help. She was rushed to the Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she remains in a medically induced coma. Medical staff have expressed concerns about performing surgery due to her age and the swelling in her brain.

Bill Curl, Lucy’s husband and a pastor at the church, is known for his unwavering faith and compassion. Despite the gravity of the situation, he expressed a desire to forgive Davis and share his faith in Jesus. The church community continues to rally around the Curl family, hoping for a miraculous recovery.

Davis’s wallet was discovered at the scene, leading to his arrest. He faces charges of home invasion robbery with a weapon and aggravated battery on a person over 65. His first court appearance is scheduled for February 7.

Davis was released from prison last year after serving a 15-year sentence. The incident has left the community in shock, grappling with the senseless act of violence that has befallen one of their cherished members.

The outpouring of support from the church and local community reflects the deep bond shared by those who know the Curls as loving and supportive individuals. They continue to hold onto hope, praying for a miracle in the face of overwhelming odds.
