Pipe bombs found during search of man’s home

MALVERN, PA – A Chester County man, Kevin Krebs, is facing serious charges after authorities discovered a cache of weapons and explosives at his residence. Krebs, 31, was arrested near a protest site and is now held without bail.

Court documents reveal that a search of Krebs’ Malvern home led to the discovery of more than a dozen improvised explosive devices, including seven pipe bombs. Additional items found included an AR-15 rifle and a long gun in his vehicle. Investigators reported that Krebs claimed he intended to protest peacefully but wanted to ensure his safety.

The Chester County District Attorney’s Office detailed the findings, which included explosives concealed in everyday objects like soda bottles and energy drink cans. Authorities also uncovered drawings of grenades and two military-style body armor vests.

The Montgomery County Bomb Disposal Unit was called in following the search, which took place on Conestoga Road. They found a pipe bomb in a desk drawer in the garage, alongside the detailed grenade sketches and body armor vests. In total, 13 improvised explosive devices were seized. Detonators were also discovered in a box labeled “no touch.”

Further investigations at Krebs’ parents’ home in a gated West Chester community revealed a police radio in the basement, allegedly belonging to Krebs. His vehicle contained an LED strobe light, night vision goggles, and a gas mask.

West Chester police first encountered Krebs as he was en route to a protest. He was found carrying a loaded handgun without a permit, knives, and magazines for an assault rifle. An AR-15 style rifle was visible on the floor of his SUV parked nearby.

Krebs reportedly informed police that he sought to protest peacefully but felt the need for protection due to recent events depicted in media. Thankfully, no injuries occurred during the search, and all devices were safely secured.

Krebs faces multiple charges, including possession of weapons of mass destruction, and remains in custody without bond.
