HOUSTON, TX – A significant breakthrough has emerged in the investigation of the explosion at Bar 5015, a popular nightlife venue that was obliterated in a fiery blast five years ago. The incident, which scattered debris across the surrounding area, has led to three arrests, including the former owner of the once-celebrated Turkey Leg Hut, Lyndell “Lynn” Price.
Price, along with two alleged accomplices, recently appeared in federal court. Authorities accuse him of orchestrating the arson attack on Bar 5015, allegedly paying individuals to ignite the establishment. The indictment charges Price with conspiracy to commit arson of a commercial building and conspiracy to use an interstate facility to commit arson of a vehicle.
The investigation reveals that Price allegedly targeted Bar 5015, owned at the time by another former Turkey Leg Hut co-owner. The blaze, which occurred on Almeda Road, caused a massive explosion that was widely covered by local media.
Federal agents assert that Price recruited and compensated co-defendants Armony Williams and John Lee Price—who is not related to him—along with others, to douse the bar in gasoline and set it alight. In a separate incident, Price is accused of hiring John Lee Price and others to torch a stolen vehicle.
John Lee Price’s attorney commented on the case, emphasizing the importance of being cautious about the company one keeps, as it can lead to legal troubles. Additionally, John Lee Price faces unrelated federal drug charges in Mississippi, though his attorney declined to discuss those allegations.
The charges carry severe penalties, with each defendant facing up to 20 years in prison and a potential $250,000 fine for the arson-related offenses. The Turkey Leg Hut, once a beloved local establishment, permanently closed last December following a court-ordered lease termination amid lawsuits, bankruptcy, and health code violations.
This case serves as a reminder of the complexities and potential consequences of criminal enterprises, leaving a once-thriving business in ruins and its former owner facing serious legal repercussions.
