INDIANAPOLIS, IN – A chaotic scene unfolded early Sunday morning at the Pony Strip Club on Lafayette Road, where a shooting and subsequent crash left several individuals injured. Surveillance cameras in the area captured the incident, but as of now, no charges have been filed by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
Police arrived around 3 a.m. to find a man in the driver’s seat of a wrecked vehicle. He had been shot, and several others were injured in the crash, necessitating transport to local hospitals.
Sources indicate that an off-duty officer from Community Health Hospital was present at the club with a group when an altercation broke out with another group. The details remain unclear, but it is known that the officer fired shots as the vehicle moved either toward or away from them. Multiple vehicles in the parking lot were also hit by gunfire.
Community Health acknowledged its officer’s involvement and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. The prosecutor’s office is meticulously reviewing the case to determine if the officer’s actions were in self-defense.
Surrounding businesses confirmed that detectives have been examining surveillance footage to piece together the events. This is not the first instance of violence at the Pony; in 2023, two women were shot outside the club but survived.
The prosecutor’s office is expected to make a decision regarding charges later this week.
