Teacher and husband arrested for selling drugs out of their home

MIAMI, FL – Authorities have arrested a couple in South Florida after uncovering an alleged drug operation at their residence, where one of the suspects is a local school teacher. The investigation, conducted by the Hialeah Police Department, culminated in the arrest of Peter Larson, 48, and Sharon Larson, 47, on multiple charges.

According to police, Sharon Larson, a Miami-Dade County elementary school music teacher, led a double life, teaching during the day and returning to a home stacked with narcotics. Her husband, Peter Larson, is accused of running a drug operation from their apartment, which allegedly housed methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, fentanyl, and other substances.

The couple’s 17-year-old daughter was also living in the apartment, raising concerns about child welfare. Court documents reveal that the undercover operation spanned six weeks, during which agents made multiple drug purchases from the Larsons’ apartment. On two occasions, the transactions reportedly occurred in the presence of a juvenile female.

A search of the apartment on Monday unveiled a significant stash of drugs, including methamphetamine, cocaine, Xanax, and fentanyl, along with more than $20,000 in cash. Peter Larson faces multiple charges, including child neglect and drug trafficking, with one count of trafficking in fentanyl leading to a no-bond status, keeping him in jail for the time being.

Sharon Larson, who is also charged with child neglect, may soon be released from custody. She is listed as a teacher at Golden Glades and Blue Lakes Elementary Schools, as well as Linda Linton K-8 Center. The Miami-Dade County Public Schools have been contacted for comment regarding her employment status.

The case has sparked outrage and concern among the local community, especially given Sharon Larson’s role as an educator. Parents and colleagues are grappling with the news that someone entrusted with nurturing children was allegedly involved in such criminal activities.
