NEW YORK, NY – An 18-year-old suspect is set to appear in federal court, facing charges linked to a fatal shooting in East Harlem that claimed the life of a 69-year-old woman. The teenager is accused of possessing a firearm capable of rapid fire without reloading, which authorities say was used in the tragic incident.
The victim, Robin Wright, was struck down by a bullet last Wednesday as she walked home using her walker, having just picked up lunch. The suspect, identified as Faisal McCants, was seen with his head lowered as NYPD detectives escorted him downtown for transfer into federal custody.
McCants is charged with federal gun possession and is also facing state murder charges. If convicted, he could face life imprisonment. Investigations revealed McCants was part of a group allegedly attempting to rob a suspected drug dealer, leading to a gunfight that resulted in Wright’s death.
