Thirteen affiliated with Mexican Mafia arrested in gang raid

LOS ANGELES, CA – In a sweeping operation early Tuesday morning, federal authorities arrested 13 individuals allegedly linked to one of San Pedro’s most notorious street gangs. The coordinated raids, conducted by multiple law enforcement agencies, targeted a gang with reported ties to the Mexican Mafia.

Of those apprehended, seven were brought before a federal court in Los Angeles later that afternoon. Family members of the accused, some visibly distressed, claimed their relatives had no gang affiliations. One mother recounted being awakened by the FBI at her doorstep to arrest her son, who now confronts a litany of charges revealed during the court proceedings.

The arrests mark a significant blow to a gang that officials describe as one of the most violent in the area. Authorities allege the group has been operating under the Mexican Mafia’s influence, managing both the Rancho San Pedro gang and its connections to the larger criminal organization.

According to investigators, the Rancho San Pedro gang pays taxes to the Mexican Mafia in exchange for protection. The charges against the suspects are extensive, including conspiracy to distribute drugs, murder, extortion, and firearms trafficking. Authorities claim these activities were conducted under the gang’s directive, involving substances such as fentanyl and heroin.

The gang’s origins trace back to the 1970s, with its control over San Pedro divided among six factions, including two female-led groups. The gang’s multigenerational structure reportedly includes approximately 500 members.

Law enforcement issued a stern warning to any potential successors looking to fill the power vacuum left by the arrests. Authorities emphasized that extensive resources and planning have gone into preventing any resurgence of gang activity.

The operation was the result of years of investigation, involving collaboration between the Los Angeles Police Department, the FBI, and Homeland Security. Officials highlighted the importance of such partnerships in maintaining public safety and demonstrating the effectiveness of coordinated law enforcement efforts.
