Truck driver faces 8 counts of homicide after deadly crash

JACKSON COUNTY, GA – A tragic accident on I-85 Northbound claimed the lives of eight family members, prompting the arrest of the truck driver involved. The incident occurred Monday afternoon when a truck, allegedly following too closely, collided with a van, leading to a devastating chain reaction.

Cain Hammock, the driver, now faces multiple charges, including eight counts of vehicular homicide. The victims were identified as Kenya Ramirez, Darwin Ventura, their daughter Kaylee, and a soon-to-be-born child. Also in the van were Kenya’s mother, Sonia, and her four siblings.
