Wanted suspect on the loose after fatal shooting

A 22-year-old man, Elijah Logan, is being sought by police in Blair following a shooting incident on Friday morning which left a man dead and a woman seriously injured.

Shortly after 6:30 a.m., Blair police units were dispatched in response to reports of a shooting incident in the vicinity of N 10th and Park streets. Upon arrival, authorities found a distressing scene: a man fatally shot and a woman wounded inside of a local residence.

The deceased was identified as Jordan Ely. The injured woman, Sam Ely, was found with gunshot wounds to both legs. She was promptly transferred to a nearby hospital, though her current condition remains undisclosed.

In the midst of the chilling scenario, a silver lining emerged as authorities confirmed an infant present in the residence was unscathed during the incident. The family reported to local news that Jordan Ely had acted bravely, trying to shield his sister, Sam Ely, and his nephew from the assailant’s gunfire. According to the same sources, Elijah Logan, the alleged shooter, is the infant’s father.

Authorities have revealed that Logan, a resident of Council Bluffs, made his escape in a green Jeep Cherokee. Standing 5-foot-9 and weighing 175 pounds, Logan is now the focus of an extensive manhunt conducted by the Metro Fugitive Task Force and various other agencies.

The investigators believe that Logan arrived at the scene with the premeditated intent to harm those inside the residence. As part of their investigation, they are urging anyone with surveillance cameras near the crime scene to review their footage for any possible leads.

The circumstances surrounding this tragic incident remain under active investigation as authorities work tirelessly to apprehend Logan and bring closure to the victims and their family.
