Wife gets life in prison for murdering her husband on Valentine’s day

A female resident of Pennsylvania has been sentenced to life in prison for allegedly enticing her ex-husband and murdering him on Valentine’s Day.

In December, 30-year-old Danielle Bewley was found guilty of murdering her husband Mitchell Bewley, 27. He was fatally shot on February 14 of 2021.

On Tuesday, Lancaster County Judge Merrill Spahn issued a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole for the Quarryville resident, as reported by the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office.

Multiple local media sources have reported that the married couple was estranged prior to the murder.

On the day of the homicide, local law enforcement arrived at a PNC Bank parking lot at around 5:30 pm. At the scene, the victim was declared dead. He had been shot multiple times in the torso. The county coroner testified that any of the five gunshot wounds could have caused the death.

Several witnesses reported they heard a single loud bang, followed by numerous other shots in quick succession.

On that night, Danielle was taken into custody in her Quarryville residence after a prolonged standoff with the authorities. The Pennsylvania State Police’s Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) was called in to help.

Danielle’s legal team referred to her her “mental health and prior victimization” as justification for potentially amending the murder charges. They proposed that she killed her husband in self-protection, which the prosecutors disagreed with.
