Police said the 34-year-old victim was shot as she sat in her car while her teenage son opened the driveway gate.
NEW YORK CITY, NY — A 34-year-old woman was shot multiple times outside a home in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx on Monday night, and police were searching Tuesday for two masked gunmen who fled the area in an SUV.
The shooting happened shortly before 10:10 p.m. on Aug. 10 outside a residence on Hollywood Avenue. Police said the woman had pulled into the driveway and remained in the driver’s seat while her 15-year-old son got out of the vehicle to open a gate. The teenager alerted his mother to danger moments before the shooting, according to officials.
The woman suffered gunshot wounds to her left arm and buttocks. Emergency responders took her to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where she was listed in stable condition and was expected to survive. Authorities have not publicly identified her.
News 12 reported that officers were called to 507 Hollywood Ave. at about 10:09 p.m. Video from the area showed police tape outside the residence and a dark-colored vehicle sitting in the driveway with its driver’s side door open.
Police said the two suspects fled south on Hollywood Avenue in a gray SUV that investigators believe may have been a Kia. One of the men was described as wearing a black Nike sweatshirt. Authorities had not announced any arrests as of Tuesday.
Investigators were still trying to determine what led to the shooting. Police had not established whether the woman knew either suspect or whether she had been deliberately targeted. No possible motive had been publicly identified.
The shooting remained under investigation as detectives searched for the gunmen and worked to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack. Police had not released the suspects’ identities or announced criminal charges.
The attack occurred within the NYPD’s 45th Precinct. Officials told ABC7 that, before Monday night’s shooting, the precinct had recorded four shooting victims so far in 2026, compared with nine during the same period in 2025. The precinct had recorded one murder this year through that point, compared with six during the same period last year.
Authorities continued Tuesday to seek information and evidence that could help identify the two suspects and clarify whether the woman was specifically targeted. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening, while the gunmen remained at large.
