MIAMI, FL – A children’s coach from Doral faces serious charges following an investigation into child pornography. The arrest was made after a tip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children led authorities to suspect illegal activity on a WhatsApp account linked to the coach.
The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Luis Quiroz, appeared in a Miami-Dade courtroom, facing two counts of possessing child pornography. The investigation commenced in July when the center alerted law enforcement about suspicious content associated with Quiroz’s account.
Investigators traced two specific images back to Quiroz’s Doral residence. One of the images depicted a child less than 12 months old, while another involved a child under the age of 10. These images were linked to a cell phone, email, and IP address registered to Quiroz.
Quiroz’s defense attorney challenged the evidence, questioning the connection between the flagged IP address and Quiroz’s phone. “There’s no direct link,” the attorney argued, emphasizing that the information was based on a tip.
However, authorities maintained that a search warrant confirmed the presence of the illicit material on the account. The judge, acknowledging probable cause, set a bond at $2,500 for each charge.
Despite the bond being posted, Quiroz remains in custody as further legal proceedings are anticipated. The case highlights the importance of vigilance in monitoring digital platforms for potential exploitation.
Authorities continue to investigate the extent of the activity and urge the public to report any suspicious online behavior. The safety of children remains a top priority for law enforcement.
