Police Officers Shot During Search of Suspect’s Home

Three Kansas City police officers were shot while executing a search warrant on Tuesday night.

The incident occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. local time when a tactical response team was attempting to breach the door of a home.

Police knocked and identified themselves before being met with gunfire, according to Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves.

The officers’ injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, and they are able to talk from their hospital beds. Police returned fire, but it is unclear if they hit the suspect or anyone else in the home.

The scene of the shooting is still considered to be active. Police are currently working to arrest the suspect. Investigations will be taken over by the Missouri State Highway Patrol due to Kansas City police firing shots at the scene.

The mayor of Kansas City, Quinton Lucas, expressed his support for the injured officers and their families, stating that police work is inherently dangerous.
