Abducted baby found dead inside car

BONNEVILLE COUNTY, ID – A horrifying discovery was made early Saturday morning when Bonneville County Sheriff deputies located a deceased child in a black Chevrolet SUV, which had careened down an embankment off a busy roadway.

The sequence of events began unfolding after calls came in at around 9:19 a.m. reporting a man found near Dan Creek Road, east of Idaho Falls. The man, later identified as Jeremy Albert Best, was discovered in a sleeping bag situated on the side of the road.

Responding deputies, after recognizing Best as a homicide suspect wanted by the Teton County Sheriff’s Office, initiated treatment for his injuries and promptly loaded him into an ambulance. A further examination of the surrounding area led them to Best’s vehicle further down the embankment.

Inside the vehicle, the deputies found a heartbreaking scene – a child, identified as Zeke Best, was found lifeless. According to a statement by the Teton County Sheriff’s Office, Zeke was declared dead at the scene.
With Best medically cleared, he was transferred to the Bonneville County Jail. He was booked on the strength of an outstanding warrant from Teton County and will remain incarcerated there pending his court arraignment, as indicated by the Sheriff’s Office.

An extensive multi-agency investigation into this tragic case continues, with the scene still being processed. Further information will be released as the probe progresses.
