HOUSTON, TX – A tragic shooting at an impromptu party in Houston claimed the lives of two teenagers and left three others injured late last night. Police are investigating the incident, which occurred at a vacant building on Jensen Drive, as they seek to piece together the chaotic events that unfolded.
The gathering, described by law enforcement as a “popup club,” was organized through social media. It drew a large crowd of mostly teenagers to the unregulated venue, where gunfire erupted just before 11:30 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene, officers were met with a frantic scene as partygoers fled the makeshift club.
Authorities confirmed that five individuals were shot during the incident. A 16-year-old boy died at the scene, while a 16-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries at Texas Children’s Hospital. Among the injured, a 13-year-old remains in critical condition, adding to the gravity of the situation.
Investigators are facing challenges in collecting evidence due to the unlicensed nature of the event. They are appealing to those who attended the party to come forward with information that could assist in identifying the shooter or shooters responsible for the violence.
“We are committed to using all available resources to uncover the truth of what happened and bring the perpetrators to justice,” a police spokesperson said. They urged witnesses to provide any information that could aid the investigation, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in solving the case.
As the investigation continues, authorities have yet to identify any suspects or vehicles connected to the shooting. The police are determined to understand how such an event was organized and to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
The community is urged to contact the police or Crime Stoppers with any information. Those with tips can reach out anonymously at 713-222-TIPS.
