HOUSTON, TX – Horror struck during a block party in the northeastern part of Houston. During the celebration, unknown assailants unleashed a hail of bullets on the crowd. The Houston Police Department reported that the incident, which occurred near a local convenience store in the 4900 block of Laura Koppe Road, took place around 2:23 a.m.
The gathering was abruptly disrupted when several shots were fired from a white truck that had rolled into the area. The sudden outbreak of violence led to a frantic scramble as attendees sought refuge, with as many as nine individuals suffering injuries. Additionally, two young African-American men lost their lives in the chaos.
The owner of a food truck on scene at the time of the shootings shared a chilling account of the horrifying moments, describing how he watched a bullet ricochet off the ground to hit a man. He condemned the indiscriminate firing into the crowd, labeling it “crazy.”
The suspects, believed to have made their escape in the white truck, drove off and were last seen heading towards US-59 on Laura Koppe Road. Police investigators discovered ammunition from two different types of firearms at the scene, indicating the possibility of multiple shooters being involved.
All the victims caught in the horrific attack were adults of various age groups.
