Bystander shoots armed robbers

DANIA BEACH, FL – In a dramatic series of events at a Dania Beach 7-Eleven, a robbery turned deadly when a bystander intervened, resulting in the death of one suspect. Police tape still clings to Sterling Road, marking the scene where chaos unfolded just a day prior.

According to a witness who was inside the store Saturday evening, two masked men attempted to rob the cashier at gunpoint. The witness recounted how the situation escalated when a man with him decided to confront the robbers.

“I saw the guy with the ski mask grab the cash register and run,” the witness said. “That’s when my mom’s friend decided to act.”

As the first robber fled the store, the armed bystander took aim, hitting him. The suspect collapsed in the parking lot and was rushed to the hospital. Meanwhile, the second suspect attempted a more desperate escape.

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office reports that the second robber got into a vehicle and tried to run over the bystander. In fear for his life, the bystander fired multiple shots at the car, fatally striking the suspect.

Nearby residents, like Charlotte Williams, were alarmed by the gunfire. “A bullet doesn’t have a name,” Williams remarked, expressing concern over the potential for stray shots to hit unintended targets.

The aftermath of the incident left a Honda riddled with bullet holes and bloody clothing scattered on the ground, painting a grim picture for the community.

As the investigation continues, authorities are working to determine the condition of the hospitalized suspect and to assess potential charges stemming from the incident.
