PHILADELPHIA, PA – A Philadelphia priest is on the mend after a violent assault in his home near St. Maron’s Maronite Catholic Church. The incident occurred Wednesday morning on Ellsworth Street when an intruder forced his way in and attacked the priest around 9:30 a.m.
Father Andrew El Tadchi is now recovering from the ordeal. He currently uses a cane as a result of the injuries sustained during the attack.
In an interview on Friday, Father El Tadchi reassured the community that South Philadelphia remains a safe area, emphasizing that the incident was targeted and is being diligently handled by local law enforcement.
Police have described the suspect as having gray hair and a stocky build. At the time of the assault, he was wearing a gray hoodie, black pants, and brown shoes.
Authorities are continuing their investigation in hopes of bringing the perpetrator to justice.
Despite the attack, Father El Tadchi shared a message of resilience and positivity with the community. “Stay positive, love each other, and be kind,” he expressed, wanting to inspire unity and compassion in the face of adversity.
