Couple robbed at gunpoint after major casino win

LAKE COUNTY, IL – A couple managed to escape injury after being held up at gunpoint outside their home following a big casino win. However, the thieves left empty-handed, taking only a bag containing their leftover dinner of steak and lobster.

The incident occurred in February when the couple, who had just won approximately $130,000 at the Rivers Casino in Des Plaines, were confronted by two suspects outside their residence. After months of investigation, on August 28, authorities arrested one suspect, 27-year-old Marcell Britton from Chicago. The second suspect, 34-year-old Aramie Kent from Maywood, remains at large.

The robbery took place in the early morning hours of February 10, according to reports from the authorities. The suspects had reportedly followed the couple back to their home after they left the casino. The assailants involved in the incident were eventually identified with the assistance of casino security footage, as well as license plate-reading cameras.

The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office has charged both Britton and Kent with several felonies, including armed robbery and aggravated robbery, in addition to robbery of a victim over 60 years of age. Arrest warrants were issued for both of the robbery suspects on August 19, with Britton being apprehended nine days later by Chicago police.

Anyone who has information about Kent’s current location is encouraged to contact local law enforcement.
