HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ – A dramatic scene unfolded in Mercer County when a crane crashed onto a home during a home improvement project Tuesday afternoon, leaving a significant gash in the roof and the vehicle suspended in the air. Emergency crews rushed to the site on the unit block of Lee Drive to address the precarious situation.
The incident occurred as workers were attempting to install a large hot tub in the backyard. The crane, mounted on a truck, fell backward onto the house, creating a chaotic scene in the usually quiet neighborhood. Fortunately, the truck operator managed to exit the vehicle before it became airborne, according to the acting fire chief.
To mitigate the situation, two additional cranes were brought in to safely lower the suspended truck back to the ground. Neighbors recounted hearing a loud crash followed by yelling, initially unsure of the source of the commotion.
