DEWHURST TOWNSHIP, WI – A horrific road accident involving a van and a tractor-trailer on a Wisconsin state highway claimed the lives of nine people on Friday, official sources confirmed. Among those killed were the driver of the tractor-trailer and eight passengers in the van. The sole survivor of the van was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
According to a statement from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, the mishap occurred at around 7:53 a.m. in Dewhurst Township, approximately 45 miles southeast of Eau Claire. An eastbound tractor-trailer on Highway 95 collided with a van moving northbound on County Road J at an intersection.
Deeply affected by this tragedy, Gov. Tony Evers extended his condolences to the victims’ families. He also expressed his gratitude to the first responders for their prompt action at the crash site.
Footage from the scene reflected the severity of the collision, with both vehicles sustaining grave damage. The van was found toppled over, and the front portion of the semi-trailer was severely disfigured, with the big rig and its goods thrown into a highway side ditch.
The identities of the nine people killed in the car accident have not yet been released. The sheriff’s office stated that they are waiting to share the identities until the relatives are notified.
