Dead body found wrapped in the trunk of ex’s car

NORTH LIBERTY, IA – A 32-year-old woman finds herself behind bars on murder charges after law enforcement officers found her ex-lover’s dead body wrapped and confined in the back seat of her crashed car.

During the early hours of Saturday, June 22, Margot Lewis, a resident of North Liberty, Iowa, was found standing beside her damaged vehicle on Interstate 90, being comforted by a local Samaritan. However, the police quickly realized that Margot Lewis was not solely an accident victim upon discovering a gruesome sight inside her car.

The police found the body of 35-year-old Liara Kaylee Tsai, from Minneapolis, in Lewis’s car. According to the Olmsted County Police report, Tsai’s body was suspiciously wrapped in multiple layers comprising a bedsheet, a blanket, a futon-style mattress, and a tarp. Tsai showed signs of a large injury on the right side of her neck, with the bedsheet soaked in dried blood. The medical examiner determined the injuries were not consistent with a vehicle crash.

Lewis and Tsai were former romantic partners, based on information received by the authorities at the crime scene. Following Lewis’s arrest, a search warrant executed at Tsai’s home in Minneapolis revealed evidence of violence.

Currently, Lewis is being held on a $1 million bond in Olmsted County. However, she has requested a transfer to Hennepin County for lower bail. Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office expressed their condolences to the friends and family of Liara Tsai in a media release.
