Father Charged With Reckless Murder After 2-Year-Old Son Dies in Car

Shawn Rounsavall, a 51-year-old Alabama man, has been charged with reckless murder after his 2-year-old son was discovered unresponsive in his car.

According to the Atmore Police Department, Rounsavall brought his child to the Atmore Community Hospital on February 27 around 4:30 pm after realizing what had happened. Unfortunately, the toddler was pronounced dead by medical staff shortly after.

The police stated that Rounsavall had allegedly forgotten to drop off his son at a local daycare that morning. By the time he returned to his son’s daycare later that afternoon, the staff told him that the child never arrived.

At this point, he realized that he abandoned the little boy in the back seat of his car.

The child was apparantly forgotten by Rounsavall while he worked at his downtown restaurant during the day. The authorities have not shared the official cause of death at this time.

Currently, Rounsavall is being held at the Escambia County Detention Center on charges of reckless murder. Whether he has entered a plea or retained an attorney is unclear.
