Early Thursday morning, Skinner and his team were deployed to a residential fire in Laguna Niguel, tasked with ensuring the safety of any potential occupants. During the operation, Skinner reported feeling unwell and was promptly escorted to a paramedic unit for immediate medical attention. Despite swift action, he collapsed and could not be revived.
Skinner’s career with the Orange County Fire Authority spanned 25 years, during which he served as an engineer responsible for driving the fire truck and managing the water supply to combat fires. Before joining the fire department, he served four years in the Navy, bringing a wealth of experience and discipline to his firefighting role.
The fire department described Skinner as a person who had an innate ability to make everyone feel welcome.
