FORT WORTH, TX – A single act of violence late on Saturday night resulted in the death of one individual, left another critically injured, and three more hospitalized from gunshot wounds. Officers from the Fort Worth Police Department arrived at the 9300 block of Cynthia Court shortly after 11 p.m. to the grim scene of a suburban shooting.
At the scene, officers found five individuals suffering from gunshot wounds, with one pronounced dead soon after their arrival. The health statuses of the surviving victims varied, with one in critical condition while the remaining three sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
According to police, a missing item from a home led to a dispute that culminated in the deadly shooting, which spilled into the front yard of the residence. Investigators are working to pinpoint specific details about the events leading up to the argument.
Jose Diaz, a local resident, recounted the horrifying incident saying his wife and children had just returned home, minutes before more than 30 gunshots were fired nearby. A security camera in Diaz’s property captured footage of a car speeding away from the scene.
The slew of bullets left multiple vehicles damaged, including two parked in Diaz’s driveway. Frighteningly, one of the vehicles had been occupied by his wife and children just a few minutes prior to the incident. Diaz, while expressing relief over his family’s safety, lamented the senseless loss of life over a replaceable missing object.
The Fort Worth authorities are on the lookout for multiple suspects. They are appealing to the public for assistance with anyone possessing pertinent information urged to contact the Tarrant County Crime Stoppers or Det. Reyes of the Fort Worth PD.
