Florida mom arrested after confessing to strangling her 13-year-old son to death

In Florida, a 37-year-old mother was arrested this week for allegedly strangling her 13-year-old son to death. The shocking crime took place inside their family home, leading to the arrest of Jasmin Kennedy on charges of domestic battery by strangulation, child neglect, and aggravated child abuse. Authorities responded to a distressing 911 call made by a family member, prompting a swift investigation into the heartbreaking incident.

On August 21, deputies from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office rushed to a residence on Crosley Avenue, located about 30 miles south of Orlando, in response to the distress call. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of a white male juvenile lying face up on a bed. Emergency responders informed the deputies that Kennedy had confessed to choking her son to death. Sheriff Marcos Lopez revealed that at least one sheriff’s deputy also heard Kennedy’s spontaneous confession. The victim displayed visible marks on his neck consistent with manual strangulation and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kennedy has been cooperating with the ongoing investigation, according to authorities. However, the motive behind this tragic act remains unclear.

Sheriff Lopez mentioned that the OCSO had previously responded to a call from Kennedy’s home earlier this year. However, he clarified that the call was unrelated to any harm inflicted on Kennedy’s children. The investigation is ongoing, and police are still working to uncover any underlying factors that may have contributed to this heartbreaking act.

As the investigation continues, authorities will delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding this tragic event in an attempt to bring justice to the young victim.
