Food Network star on trial for strangling his wife

LOUISVILLE, KY – Famous Food Network star Darnell “SuperChef” Ferguson is facing legal consequences following allegations of domestic violence. He is accused of threatening to murder his estranged wife and choking her in Kentucky.

Ferguson’s case transitioned to a grand jury following a preliminary hearing on Thursday, as shared by an update in the Kentucky Court of Justice’s case history file. The grand jury hearing has been scheduled for the week commencing Feb. 19.

On Jan. 9, 36-year-old Ferguson was arrested in St. Matthews, a suburb of Louisville. His charges include felonies like burglary and strangulation. He’s also been charged with misdemeanors such as assault, terroristic threatening, menacing, and criminal mischief.

A misdemeanor charge for theft-receipt of a stolen credit or debit card was dismissed at the preliminary hearing. The charge implicated Ferguson in the theft of his estranged wife’s credit/debit card and her ID.

Ferguson pleaded not guilty and has reportedly been released on bail.

A warrant provided details alleging Ferguson of bursting into Tatahda’s St. Matthews home, shouting at her, and punching walls. He then purportedly grabbed her by the neck, choked her, and threatened to murder her. This caused Tatahda to lose consciousness.

Upon regaining consciousness, Tatahda claimed that Ferguson ripped off her shorts, causing a thigh scratch, and demanded to see her private parts, asserting that she belonged only to him. Tatahda, as stated in the warrant, expressed to the police that she feared being sexually assaulted.

The police were summoned to Tatahda’s home, documenting evidence of her injuries, including neck redness, scratches, and upper thigh scratches. Tatahda was taken to the hospital for treatment after the incident.
