Forney Woman Killed in Shooting; Boyfriend Charged With Murder

Authorities arrested 20-year-old Calvin Steven Farr after Amaya Penneywell-Robinson, 21, was found fatally shot inside a Forney home.

FORNEY, TX — A 21-year-old woman was fatally shot at her boyfriend’s home in Forney, and the 20-year-old man was arrested on a murder charge, according to the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office.

Amaya Penneywell-Robinson was found inside a residence on Arborwood Drive after deputies responded to a report of a shooting Thursday, Oct. 22. Authorities said she had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene. Calvin Steven Farr was taken into custody at the home and later booked into the Kaufman County jail.

The sheriff’s office initially announced the shooting Thursday night but did not identify Penneywell-Robinson or the man detained at the scene. Authorities later identified Farr and said he was being held on a murder charge. Jail information reviewed Monday showed Farr, 20, remained in custody.

Scott Whitaker of the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office told FOX 4 that deputies from multiple agencies were already at the scene as investigators entered the residence and found Penneywell-Robinson. Authorities have not publicly released a detailed account of what investigators believe led to the shooting.

Penneywell-Robinson’s mother, Tiara Tilley-Davis, told FOX 4 that her daughter had gone to the home to collect the remainder of her belongings. She said her daughter had planned to get food before reporting for an overnight security job. The family was notified later that night that Penneywell-Robinson had died.

Tilley-Davis described her daughter as happy, talented and ambitious. She said Penneywell-Robinson was working overnight for a security company while studying to become a dental hygienist and was about two weeks from graduation. Her mother also said Penneywell-Robinson and Farr had been dating since high school.

Penneywell-Robinson’s mother characterized the relationship as involving domestic violence and said she had encouraged her daughter to leave it. Authorities have not released records detailing any prior incidents between the couple, and investigators have not publicly announced a motive in the fatal shooting.

FOX 4 reported that Farr was being held on a $750,000 bond. A murder charge is an accusation, and Farr is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. No additional information about future court proceedings had been publicly confirmed in the reporting reviewed.

The investigation remains with the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities have not publicly released additional details about the circumstances immediately before the shooting or announced further arrests in the case.
