CHICAGO, IL – In the early hours of Monday, four men were injured in a shooting inside an adult entertainment venue, Deja Vu Showgirls, located in the South Loop of Chicago. According to police reports, the conflict started after a brawl within the venue just after 3:30 a.m.
From the details shared by the Chicago Fire Department, both Stroger and Northwestern hospitals admitted three of the men in fairly stable conditions, while the fourth man, in a critical state, was taken to Northwestern Hospital. The victims’ ages range between 26 and 35 years old. No arrests have been made yet concerning the shooting, and the precipitating factors remain unknown.
A statement from the office of Alderman Jason Ervin of the 28th Ward, where the adult entertainment establishment is situated, said they would partner with Chicago police to tackle the recurring issues at the location.
Apart from possibly ordering a summary closure, which would require the venue to stay shut until the safety concerns are addressed with an approved action plan, Mr. Ervin has asserted he would collaborate with the community and the Chicago Police Department (CPD) to prioritize public safety.
The venue was deemed shut on Monday by the Chicago police via a summary closure order, which hung on the building. Initially intending to reopen Monday night, the premises owner found the sign and has so made no statement.
Notably, this event is the second of its kind. In November of last year, a security guard was shot near Deja Vu Showgirls at around 4 a.m. by a drive-by shooter in a black Tesla while he was escorting a person out of the club.
